To learn more about whether Costco accepts Afterpay and which payment methods you can use, read on for useful facts and tips!

Why Doesn’t Costco Accept Afterpay?

Costco doesn’t accept Afterpay because the company has other payment methods for customers to use.

Therefore, you can’t use this payment whether you are shopping in-store or online.

However, this doesn’t mean that Costco refuses other buy-now-pay-later financing plans. In fact, if you need to use such a platform, you can choose the other options like Zip.

Does Costco Take Buy-Now-Pay-Later Payments?

Like most retailers, Costco accepts buy-now-pay-later financing. You can use Zip, previously known as Quadpay, to make purchases at Costco.

For this deal with Zip, Costco customers can pay for their purchases in 4 installments over 6 weeks.

With this method, customers are expected to pay 25% of the total cost upfront and split the rest over the payment period.

To use Zip, Costco customers need to download the Zip app, search for Costco, and add their items to the shopping cart. At checkout, tap “Pay with Zip” to process the payment.

Installment payments are automatically deducted from your linked credit or debit card every two weeks.

Additionally, Zip sends Costco customers notifications to ensure they don’t miss a payment.

If you’re shopping in-store at Costco, select the in-store tab on the Zip app, enter the total purchase amount, and confirm the amount to generate a virtual card.

Next, add the Zip virtual card to Google Play or Apple Wallet for easier access and complete the payment.

Do You Have to Pay Interest for ‘Buy Now Pay Later’ Services at Costco?

If you’re using buy-now-pay-later financing such as Zip at Costco, you won’t be charged interest.

However, you might incur late payment fees when the installment is late; therefore, you need to confirm that with the store.

Which Other Stores Accept Afterpay?

Now that we’ve established Costco doesn’t accept Afterpay, are there other stores that accept this buy-now-pay-later form of financing? Let’s take a look at the following companies:

Target

Target accepts Afterpay; however, it’s only available in the U.S. through Target.com and the Target app; therefore, you can’t use this buy-now-pay-later service in-store.

When shopping online, you can use the Afterpay app or the Afterpay card you get via the app.

Fortunately, you don’t need to log into the account if you have the card- you’ll just use the card like any other debit or credit card.

However, keep in mind that there is an Afterpay limit. To use Afterpay on Target.com, you have to spend a maximum of $1,000 and a minimum of $1.

Therefore, you need to keep track of your purchases to ensure that you don’t go past this limit.

Bed Bath & Beyond

You can also use Afterpay at Bed Bath & Beyond retail stores.

When shopping at this store with Afterpay, your first payment will be made at the time of purchase, and the remaining three payments will be deducted every two weeks.

However, you can choose to make additional payments ahead of your scheduled dates.

While Afterpay is available for purchases at Bed Bath & Beyond, there is a minimum limit of $10 when shopping online or in-store.

Therefore, you’re recommended to check the Afterpay app for the pre-approved amount that you’re able to spend.

Additionally, keep in mind that you can’t use Afterpay to purchase gift cards at Bed Bath & Beyond.

How Does Afterpay Work?

If your retailer has Afterpay, you can buy products now and pay later at no interest. Shoppers can pay for the product within 6 weeks over four installments.

Although Afterpay doesn’t specify the minimum purchase amount, you’ll need to align to the set requirements from the retailer.

To use this service, you need to download the Afterpay app and sign up to open an account.

During checkout, you can choose Afterpay as your payment method. In addition, you can add the card to a digital wallet like Apple Pay to make payments easier.

  1. I use Afterpay at Costco all the time. Afterpay offers a digital card to customers for in store use, as long as the store has Google Pay and is a merchant Afterpay works with. You just use the in store option in Afterpay and select the amount you need, then you use Google Pay at the register with your phone. I am able to spend up to $1,000 at Costco using Afterpay, but did get a decline after going above $1,000.
