Does Walgreens Accept GoodRx? [All You Need To Know]

GoodRx is used by thousands of people all over the country to find the lowest prescription drug prices and get discount coupons.

Since Walgreens is one of the largest and most frequented drugstore chains in the U.S., you may be wondering: does Walgreens accept GoodRx?

Here is what I’ve found out!

Does Walgreens Accept GoodRx?

Yes, Walgreens is a participating member of GoodRx and is contractually obliged to accept GoodRx coupons at its stores. However, it is not a member of GoodRx Gold. For controlled substances, some Walgreens stores may accept GoodRx as long as the quantity does not exceed the insurance limit.

If you want to know more about getting your GoodRx coupons accepted at Walgreens and its policy regarding controlled substances like Adderall, keep on reading!

How Does GoodRx Work At Walgreens?

How Does GoodRx Work At Walgreens?

To get a discount at Walgreens through GoodRx, you have to first either visit or install the GoodRx mobile app. Next, you should enter the name of the drug you need to buy in the search bar.

This will give you a list of the lowest prices of that particular drug, along with the nearby pharmacies that have it available.

Find the entry for the drug with ‘Walgreens’ as the pharmacy and select the option to get the coupon.

If you’re using the GoodRx website, you may have to either print the coupon or have it sent to your mobile phone.

Finally, all that remains is to visit your nearby Walgreens store and show them the coupon (printed or directly on your phone).

They are contractually obliged to accept it and so will accept the discounted price on the GoodRx coupon.

How Do I Use GoodRx At Walgreens If I Also Have Insurance?

If you have an insurance plan that you normally use at Walgreens to pay for your prescriptions, you can still use GoodRx coupons to get discounts.

You can do this by asking the cashier at the Walgreens store to charge the transaction in cash instead of billing it to your insurance provider.

This will allow you to use the coupon and pay the discounted amount in cash even if you have an insurance plan.

Does Walgreens Accept GoodRx Gold?

Unfortunately, Walgreens is not a member of the GoodRx Gold service and so does not accept discount coupons at its store from GoodRx Gold users.

Does Walgreens Accept GoodRx For Controlled Substances?

The policy regarding accepting GoodRx for controlled substances at Walgreens varies from store to store. Some stores accept GoodRx for controlled substances, while others do not.

This is because GoodRx has left the decision of whether to accept its coupons for controlled substances or not to each member pharmacy.

You should call up your nearest Walgreens store by getting its contact details from the Walgreens store locator and ask them if they accept GoodRx for controlled substances.

However, make sure that you are not exceeding the limit defined in your insurance plan for that controlled substance.

If you are, no Walgreens store will accept a GoodRx coupon for it.

Adderall is classified as a Schedule II controlled substance. Therefore, whether a Walgreens store accepts GoodRx for Adderall depends on the store’s policy and whether you are exceeding the limit defined in your insurance.

You should call up your local Walgreens store and ask them about using GoodRx for Adderall in advance.

Walgreens does indeed accept GoodRx at all of its stores since it is a participating member of GoodRx and contractually obliged to accept its coupons.
