Because Walmart stores are some of the most convenient places for one-stop shopping, customers return in droves.
And given our reliance on our keys for home, office, and car access, it’s also no wonder that at times everyone finds themselves in need of a new key! So, does Walmart make keys? Here is what I discovered!
Does Walmart Make Keys?
Walmart does provide key copying and cutting services. Customers can cut their own keys and make duplicates in-store at the MinuteKey kiosks. The price for each key can range from $2 to $6 per key. Like all reputable locksmiths, Walmart will not copy “Do No Duplicate Keys.”

How Much Does it Cost to Make Keys at Walmart?
Luckily enough, Walmart does not charge an additional fee for cutting your key above the cost of the key itself (as long as the key is purchased from Walmart).
As for the price, when using the MinuteKey kiosk, it can cost you anywhere between $2 to $6 per key, and you will need a credit or debit card to pay for it.
What Kind of Keys Can I Make at Walmart?
Handily enough, you can make either your house keys or office keys at Walmart with no issues!
Car keys are a bit different, though — but if it’s an old enough key that doesn’t have any programming chips inside, you can copy that at a MinuteKey kiosk with success.
The MinuteKey kiosks are programmed to refuse any duplicate or keys that are too technical to duplicate.
The other kinds of keys unable to be duplicate include those marked “Do Not Duplicate,” keys for public institutions, high-security facilities, schools, or restricted properties.
What Walmarts Have MinuteKey Kiosks?
Of course, not all Walmart store locations have a MinuteKey kiosk. But thankfully, you can easily give your preferred location a search on their MinuteKey kiosk locator tool on the company’s website to see if your local Walmart has a kiosk.
All you will need is a couple of minutes and your zip code, or your state and city, to allow the website to find the closest MinuteKey kiosks to you.
How Do I Make Keys at Walmart?
MinuteKey kiosks utilize their own robotic technology to copy keys as soon as one minute after you begin the process! They also offer user-friendly touch screens and guidance through the copy process, step by step.
You get to choose the design from the many options available, including nature designs, animal print, cartoons, and sports team logos.
Once you have picked your desired options, the kiosk takes in your key’s shape through laser imaging and produces a precise duplicate.
