The company has been dealing with labor shortages for years. Both of these factors make it easy to get hired at FedEx.

Is It Easy To Get Hired By FedEx?
Yes, getting hired by FedEx is very easy, especially compared to other companies.
That’s thanks to the increase in package volumes and the labor shortage FedEx has faced over the past couple of years.
Given this labor market, FedEx is willing to hire just about anyone who applies unless something problematic comes up during the background check.
So, it’s not surprising that FedEx is constantly hiring, both at Ground and Express. Also, some hubs will even hire people on the spot because they’re so desperate for help.
Further, aside from these favorable conditions (for prospective employees at least), the FedEx application progress is easy and quick.
Therefore, you should be able to complete the online application in less than an hour and could get hired in a matter of weeks.
How Do You Know if FedEx Will Hire You?
As mentioned in the previous section, FedEx is pretty desperate to hire people.
Therefore, you can feel confident about getting hired as long as you don’t have any serious red flags in your past.
That said, FedEx does hire felons, but their applications are accepted on a case-by-case basis.
For instance, those with a recent conviction or who were charged with a serious crime like theft or battery will have a harder time getting hired at FedEx than those with a non-violent offense.
Also, it’s worth noting that FedEx is committed to fostering an alcohol and drug-free work environment, so potential new hires (except for package handlers) are drug tested.
If you’re someone who uses substances, getting hired at FedEx will be much more complicated (if not impossible).
Besides a background check and a drug test, you’ll need to pass a basic assessment test, a phone interview, and a physical test before getting an answer from FedEx.
Still, most people meet these requirements, so there’s no need to worry about getting disqualified during this stage.
How Do I Get Hired At FedEx?
Getting hired at FedEx consists of five steps. So, let’s look at what’s involved in each step:
- Complete an online application
- Take an assessment test (this is a simple test to explore your psychological profile, strengths, and weaknesses)
- Do an interview (either over the phone or in-person)
- Pass a background check, a drug test, and a driving test (if required for the position you’re applying for)
- Attend orientation and complete onboarding paperwork
After you’re hired, you’ll complete computer training and on-the-job training. Also, drivers and couriers will have additional training tasks, including defensive driving and courier school.
How Long Does It Take To Get Hired At FedEx?
One of the main aspects determining how easy it is to get a job is how long the application process takes from start to finish.
In most cases, the faster the application process, the easier getting a job feels. At FedEx, some package handlers report getting hired in less than a week from start to finish.
While it may be possible, that’s not the norm. In fact, the average amount of time is closer to a few weeks.
Still, a couple of weeks to get a new job is quite fast, so I’m confident that FedEx hires more quickly than most companies.
What Are The Requirements For Working At FedEx?
Another aspect determining how easy it is to get a job is the job requirements.
If a job requires minimal training, certifications, and experience, it’s fair to say getting hired is easy.
That said, FedEx’s requirements depend on the position you’re applying for, but let’s take the example of a delivery driver just to see.
Therefore, to become a delivery driver at FedEx, you need the following:
- High school degree or equivalent
- Driver’s license for the assigned vehicle (CDL might be required)
- Clean driving record
- Ability to lift 70 pounds
- Ability to work variable shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Pass the mandatory training for couriers
Additionally, while these requirements certainly require some skill, the bar to entry at FedEx is still pretty low compared to other companies.
