Where Can You Buy Costco Gift Cards? (Besides Costco)

You love Costco, and you want to share that love with someone you love. But you don’t want to have to go to Costco to purchase a Costco gift card. So, where can you buy Costco gift cards?

Here is what I discovered through my research.

Where Can You Buy Costco Gift Cards Besides Costco?

Unfortunately, Costco does not sell Costco gift cards at any other store (including Walmart, Target, etc.). Since you need a Costco membership to purchase a Costco Shop Card, Costco can’t sell their gift cards elsewhere.

Why Can I Only Purchase Costco Gift Cards At Costco?

Why Can I Only Purchase Costco Gift Cards At Costco?

Purchasing gift cards through Costco ensures that you won’t pay any additional fees and that the gift cards will always be in stock.

Additionally, Costco will occasionally run specials on their gift cards, so members can sometimes pick up gift cards for a few dollars off.

You’re able to purchase Costco gift cards online or in-store. However, if you’re feeling lucky, you may be able to find some Costco gift cards online on sites such as eBay or Amazon, though there may be an upcharge.

Do I Have to Be A Member To Use A Costco Gift Card?

No, you can be a non-member and use a Costco gift card. You only need to be a member to purchase Costco gift cards.

To use a Costco gift card as a non-member, all you do is show your gift card at the door and show that it does have a balance on it, and you should be allowed into the store. Alternatively, you can use the gift card online.

What’s The Difference Between A Costco Shop Card And A Costco Gift Card?

Costco shop cards and gift cards are the same things, just different terms. Costco gift cards are great alternatives to carrying around cash or credit cards because they never expire, and they can be recharged.

How Much Can I Put On A Costco Gift Card?

Costco gift cards are available from $25 to 1,000 dollars. They can be used to purchase any merchandise in the store or used to renew a membership.

Can I Spend More Than My Costco Gift Card?

Yes. However, Costco policy states that you have to use the gift card first and then use cash or debit for the rest of the balance.

Some supervisors will tell you that you need to cash out the remaining balance on the gift card, but this isn’t policy.

Can I Redeem My Costco Gift Card For Cash?

No, you cannot redeem your Costco gift card for cash. Instead, you have to use the gift card to purchase merchandise.

As mentioned above, some supervisors make you cash out the remaining balance of your gift card after purchasing merchandise. But this isn’t policy, so it’s not going to happen every time you use a Costco gift card.

Can I Buy Gas Using My Costco Gift Card?

Yes, you can use your Costco gift card to purchase gas at the Costco gas station. You would simply use the gift card instead of your membership card at the pump. This makes it so non-members can use the Costco gas station if they have a Costco gift card.
