What Are Amazon’s Hiring Requirements for Warehouse Jobs?
Before applying for a role in an Amazon warehouse, you’re probably wondering if you’re qualified.
Luckily, most people are. In fact, Amazon has just a few requirements for warehouse positions. These include…
- Being aged 18 years or older
- Having a high school diploma or GED
- Completing a criminal background check going back 7 years
- Agreeing to a pre-employment drug test
While these are Amazon’s traditional requirements, it does sound as though the company will onboard new employees without the drug test, especially if a lot of roles need to be filled quickly.
Employees who start working without completing the drug test are treated as temporary/seasonal workers until the test is complete.
How Can I Apply to Work at an Amazon Warehouse?
Now that you know whether or not you’ve got the necessary qualifications for an Amazon position, let’s take a step back and find out where to find Amazon warehouse jobs.
One option is to visit amazon.jobs/ to view all the openings and requirements for different positions you’re looking to apply for.
While this is a solid option, we recommend using Amazon Force instead.
Unlike the Amazon Jobs portal, Force shows mostly warehouse positions. This makes looking for a warehouse job even quicker and easier.
Follow the steps below to apply for a warehouse position using the Amazon Force portal.
From the homepage, select “United States” under the sign-in panel.
Next, click “Sign In” or “Create Account.”
If you’ve previously applied for a job at Amazon, you can bypass the account setup process.
Otherwise, you’ll need to fill in your personal information and set up a password to create an account.
Once you’ve signed in, select “United States” and your state from the drop-down menus on the right-hand side of the screen.
Setting these filters will narrow down the positions you see based on geographic location.
Although there is an option to select a city as well, we don’t recommend filling in this box.
Doing so may mean that you miss out on interesting opportunities close by, just because they’re not directly in your city.
Once your filters are set, you’ll see a list of available jobs and shifts. Click “Apply” when you find one that interests you.
From there, you’ll be asked to fill in your personal information and agree to complete a pre-employment drug screening.
Once your application is complete, you should receive an email about the next steps in the hiring process.
Usually, you’ll get information about when and where to take your ID badge photo and drug test.
How Long Does the Amazon Warehouse Hiring Process Take?
Compared to a lot of jobs, Amazon’s warehouse hiring process is incredibly fast.
While 2 weeks seems to be the norm, there are plenty of reports of people getting hired in just a few days.
Regardless of how long the process takes, new recruits usually fill out an online application and complete a quiz about warehouse procedures.
Afterward, they’ll receive an email with information about how to complete onboarding paperwork (e.g. taking an ID photo, completing a drug test).
Does Amazon Warehouse Do Interviews?
In most cases, Amazon does not conduct interviews for warehouse positions.
After your application is accepted, you’ll receive an email giving you instructions about when and where to take your ID badge photo and complete your drug test.
If your test comes back clean, you’re given a start date- no interview required!
