Does Tesco Have PayPoint? [Fees, Locations, Limits + More!]

Tesco has thousands of shops across the UK, all of which sell affordable everyday items at competitive prices.

With a local Tesco likely to be in the vicinity of your home, you might want to know whether it has PayPoint. Here is what I discovered!

Does Tesco Have PayPoint?

Tesco does offer PayPoint services at their Tesco Express stores only. Customers can pay for bills such as gas, electricity, and rent and pick up parcels with Collect+. Unfortunately, larger Tesco stores, including Tesco Extra, Tesco Superstores, and Tesco Supermarkets, do not provide PayPoint.

Read on to discover everything you need to know about finding your local PayPoint and using PayPoint at Tesco.

How Do I Know If A Tesco Has A PayPoint?

The vast majority of the UK population lives within walking distance of a PayPoint outlet. In fact, an incredible 99.7% of all urban residents live within a mile of one.

So, it is likely that your local Tesco Express or other nearby shops will offer PayPoint services. Shops that do will be clearly marked with a yellow PayPoint sign outside, usually over or near the front entrance.

To check whether the Tesco Express near you is a PayPoint outlet, go to the PayPoint website and type in your town or postcode.

Additionally, a list will be generated of all of the PayPoint outlets local to you. If your nearby Tesco Express is on the list, it offers PayPoint services.

Which Tesco Shops Have PayPoint?

As previously stated, only the smaller Tesco Express outlets offer PayPoint services. Tesco’s larger Metro and Extra stores do not, unfortunately.

If your local Tesco branch has PayPoint, this will mean that you can pay a range of household bills and make cash deposits in-store, using either cheque, cash, or debit card.

You can also pick up and drop off parcels at over 10,000 PayPoint outlets across the UK, including some Tesco Expresses.

How To Use PayPoint At Tesco?

PayPoint users will be given a unique Payment Reference Number comprised of around 19 digits, which will be distributed to them either on a plastic card or printed on a letter as a barcode.

To pay your gas, electricity, TV licensing, and other bills at your local Tesco Express, simply present your code to the cashier and decide how much you would like to pay, either in cash, cheque, or debit card.

The cashier will scan or swipe your code, and the amount you have elected to pay will be deposited for you. You will always be given a receipt as proof of payment.

What UK Shops Have PayPoint?

In the UK alone, there are around 29,000 local shops that offer PayPoint services. As well as Tesco Express shops, you can also find PayPoint outlets in stores such as:

  • Co-Op
  • Spar
  • Sainsbury’s Local
  • Shell
  • Texaco
  • Asda

Lots of independent shops offer PayPoint services, too. To find out exactly which shops near you do, you can use the search feature on the PayPoint website, as you did when looking into your local Tesco Express.
