Phishing is a common scam where someone will send an email or text message that looks like it’s from Target but is actually from a fraudster.
Most of the time, the messages try to get you to click on a link or open an attachment that will install malware on your device.
So, be very careful about any emails or text messages you receive purporting to be from Target – if in doubt, don’t click on anything and forward the message to email@example.com.
Vishing is another email and text scam, but the fraudster will try to get you to call a phone number instead of getting you to click on a malicious link.
They may say there’s been suspicious activity on your Target account or that your order can’t be processed.
Smishing is similar to phishing, but instead of using email or text messages, the fraudster will use SMS (a short message service).

4. Fake Target Coupons
Currently, many fake coupons are circulating online for Target stores. These may be for free items or huge discounts, but they’re not real.
Don’t be scammed – only use coupons that come from Target directly.
5. Gift Card Scam
In this scam, a fraudster will contact you claiming to be from Target Customer Service.
They’ll say there was an issue with your recent purchase and offer to refund the amount onto a Target gift card.
Next, they’ll ask for the 16-digit code on the back of the card – once they have this, they can spend the money!
Therefore, if you receive a call like this, hang up and contact Target Customer Service at 1-800-440-0680 to check if it’s legitimate.
6. Return Fraud
Some fraudsters will try to return items stolen from Target stores by using fake or stolen IDs. Then, they’ll ask for a refund in cash or a prepaid debit card.

7. Target Survey Fraud
Some shoppers may receive an email or text message saying they’ve won a $500 Target gift card in a survey.
To claim your prize, you’ll be asked to click on a link or call a phone number; this is a scam – don’t click on the link or call the number.
Further, Target will never contact you about a survey where you can win a prize.
8. Collection Scam
In this scam, someone will call or email you claiming to be from Target Collections and say you owe money for an unpaid bill or outstanding debt.
Usually, they threaten legal action if you don’t pay immediately; this is a scam – hang up or delete the email and don’t respond.

If you have received a suspicious email, text message, or phone call purporting to be from Target, forward it to email@example.com and then delete it.
Additionally, never click on any email or text links and do not call unrecognized phone numbers.
Finally, shoppers can report any scams targeting Target customers to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) online or by calling 1-877-382-4357.
How Do I Add 2-Factor Verification To My Target Account?
Two-factor verification is an extra layer of security that can be added to your Target account.
When you try to log in, you’ll be asked to enter a code sent to your phone.
Therefore, it makes it much harder for fraudsters to access your account, even if they have your username and password.

1) Log in and go to “My Account”
2) Select “Edit Profile”
