With the increased functionality that smartphones have developed to have, it’s important to be able to stay on top of what’s going on in the device.
Notifications provide an easy way to do this, and one of the apps that provides a platform for them is Samsung Push Service, which we’re looking into below!
What Is Samsung Push Service?
Samsung Push Service is an app that displays notifications related to products from the company on its devices. It comes preinstalled on some Galaxy devices but it’s also available for download via the Google Play Store and Galaxy Store. Unlike the service that displays regular notifications, this one is intended primarily for promotional messages.
Read on to learn everything you need to know about Samsung Push Service, including what it does, whether you need it and more!
How Do I Turn on Samsung Push Service?
You don’t need to turn on the Samsung Push Service because it’s always running by default, whether it came on your device or you installed it.
One way to know if your device came with Push Service preloaded is if you get notifications for Samsung-specific products such as Galaxy Themes, Members, and Global Goals.
As well, you could look for it in your list of installed apps through the Settings menu. Find it by scrolling through the list or searching in the box at the top of the page.
If it’s not present, you can download and install it for free from the Galaxy Store or Google Play Store, after which it should start running.
If you’re running Android 6.0 or older, you might need to enable additional permissions in order to get it to work or update your software.
Do I Need Samsung Push Service?
You don’t need Samsung Push Service unless you’re keen on getting notifications about the company’s other products and services.
As we mentioned in the first section, it’s not responsible for the most important notifications such as calls and messages.
Instead, it’s intended to promote things that the company built itself and thinks you might like, such as themes and digital payment processors.
Is It OK to Disable Samsung Push Service?
It’s okay to disable Samsung Push Service if you’re not interested in getting updates about the company’s products and services.
Assuming you have the option to do so, some of the instances where it might be advisable to disable the service include the following:
- It’s one of the top battery hogs on your device – you can find out whether this is the case by checking the battery usage stats, displaying which app drains it the most
- You don’t have enough storage and getting rid of it would free up some space
- It’s giving you too many notifications – this is most common on devices that come with several Samsung apps preloaded or when the service keeps pushing you to update it
However, if you’re using Samsung’s apps such as Themes, Wallet, Members, and more, you probably shouldn’t disable the Push Service because you might miss notifications.
How Can I Get Rid of Samsung Push Service?
Depending on how Samsung Push Service ended up on your device, you can get rid of it by uninstalling it like any other app or by turning off notifications.
You can uninstall it if you installed it yourself; go to your device’s Settings menu, find it in the list of apps, and uninstall it from there.
Unfortunately, this isn’t an option if it came preloaded on your device, which is standard for many modern Galaxy models.
In these cases, you also can’t disable or force stop the app because the options for both are grayed out by default.
However, you can turn off its notifications so you never have to see it again by following these steps:
- Go to Settings
- Go to “Notifications”
- Under the “recently sent” tab, click on “More” if Samsung Push Service isn’t one of the apps listed
- Tap on “Most recent” at the top of the page and select “All” from the options
- Find “Samsung Push Service” and toggle it off
When you do this, the app will remain on your device but it won’t keep showing up anymore.
How Can I Fix Samsung Push Service?
You can fix the “Unfortunately Samsung Push Service has stopped” error message by clearing its app cache through the following steps:
- Go to Settings
- Go to “Apps”
- Scroll until you find “Samsung Push Service” or search for it using the button at the top right of the page then click on it
- Go to “Storage”
- Tap “Clear cache” at the bottom right of the page
This will get the service to effectively restart and is going to clear most errors that were previously present and caused the crashes.

If you don’t want Push Service, you can uninstall it, provided you installed it from the Google Play Store or Galaxy Store. If it came preloaded on your device, you can neither uninstall nor disable it but you can turn off its notifications from the Settings menu.
