FedEx is one of the largest delivery services in the United States, if not the world. While a lot of the company’s success came from its state-of-the-art hub and spoke delivery system, many other things make shipping with FedEx convenient.
One example is the number of locations where customers can drop off FedEx packages. They can drop off at FedEx Office locations and dropboxes, and several third-party retailers are also offering these services. Keep reading to find out what they are!
Where Can I Drop Off FedEx Packages In 2023?
FedEx packages can be dropped off at official FedEx locations such as FedEx Office stores and FedEx Ship Centers in 2023. Express packages can be dropped off at one of the more than 45,000 drop boxes located in airports, banks, and office buildings. Stores like Walmart, Walgreens, and Dollar General provide FedEx services, including drop-offs.
There are many more places to drop off your FedEx packages, so if you’re curious to see what they are, keep reading!
1. FedEx Office
This one is pretty obvious, but with more than 2,000 of these locations operating in the United States alone, it’s worth mentioning.
That said, these locations are set up to send and receive packages for all types of FedEx shipping services, including Express, Ground, and SameDay City.
Also, they help customers pack their items to ensure safe shipping and hold packages for convenient pickup.
To find a location near you, use the store locator tool on the FedEx website.
Then, simply enter your city name or zip code, click the “Drop labeled package at staffed location” button and wait for the results.
2. FedEx Ship Center
Again, this may seem like a no-brainer to include, but FedEx Ship Centers offer slightly different services and can be more convenient than FedEx Office locations.
For example, not only do Ship Center locations allow customers to ship packages with speed and reliability, but they also offer late drop-off hours.
Further, Ship Centers tend to be open an hour later than Office locations, making them an excellent option for those who work late or procrastinate until the last minute.
Additionally, these locations offer the flexibility to ship approved dangerous goods; something Office locations are not set up to handle.
You can find a FedEx Ship Center location near you by entering your zip code on the Ship Center website.
3. FedEx Authorized Ship Center
While the name might look similar to the previous item on this list, don’t confuse FedEx Ship Centers with FedEx Authorized Ship Centers.
For example, FedEx Ship Centers are owned and operated by FedEx, and their employees are employed by FedEx.
On the other hand, Authorized Ship Centers are pack-and-ship stores that have received approval to offer FedEx services.
Each store has regularly scheduled pick-up times for FedEx Express and FedEx Ground packages.
Further, you can identify these locations by the official FedEx sign in their front window.
Also, you can locate the Authorized Ship Center nearest to you by entering your zip code on the FedEx website.
4. FedEx Drop Box
Did you know that FedEx has more than 45,000 drop boxes throughout the United States? That said, you can find these receptacles in:
- Grocery stores
- Office buildings
- Select USPS locations
As long as your package is sealed and has a prepaid shipping label, simply walk up to the box, open the slot, and drop off your item.
Also, each drop box has different pickup hours, with some having extended hours into the evening, meaning you can drop off your package late and still have it arrive on time.
Keep in mind that these boxes are only for FedEx Express packages, and you cannot use them for FedEx Ground, FedEx International Next Flight, or FedEx SameDay packages.
In addition, they cannot be used for shipment containing items classified as dangerous goods.
5. Dollar General
Not only can you score some great deals on household items, but you can also drop off your FedEx package while you’re at Dollar General.
That’s right, hundreds of Dollar General stores throughout the United States offer FedEx services like package drop-off, online returns, and package holding.
To drop off a package at Dollar General, create and print a shipping label on the FedEx website. If returning an online purchase, use the shipping label provided to you by the sender.
Next, seal your package and attach the label. Finally, bring your package to the register of a participating Dollar General store.
As you can see, dropping off packages at Dollar General is fast, convenient, and doesn’t cost anything extra.
Even better, most locations are open until 11:00 PM, making this a great place to drop off if you work late.

So, as long as your parcel is sealed and addressed with a shipping label, you can drop it off with a Walgreens store associate.
Lastly, you can use this tool to find a Walgreens near you and see store hours.
7. Office Depot & Office Max
All Office Depot and Office Max stores offer FedEx shipping services, which is over 1,000 more locations where you can go to deposit your parcel.
To locate the shipping area, go to the Copy & Print Center in the front corner of the Office Depot/Office Max location nearest you.
Also, you can locate the store closest to you by searching your city name or zip code on the Office Depot website.
Not only is Walmart one of the United States’ largest retailers, but now over 300 locations also offer FedEx shipping services right inside the store.
That means you can complete all of your FedEx business, including package drop-offs, while you do your grocery shopping. What could be more convenient than that?
Further, you can search for your nearest participating Walmart on the FedEx website.
Good news for those living in California, Washington, Texas, and other states where there are Albertsons; many of these stores have FedEx OnSite locations.
That means you can grab something for dinner after dropping off your FedEx packages.
That said, to find an Albertsons near you offering FedEx services, simply search “FedEx Albertsons” in your preferred browser.
If you live on the West Coast and grocery shop at Safeway, then we have good news for you. Many of these locations offer FedEx OnSite services.
Further, such locations can handle drop-offs for FedEx Ground and Express shipments, accept online returns, and hold packages for pickup.
Lastly, you can search “FedEx Safeway” to find the closest location nearest to you.
11. USPS Post Offices
This last one may come as a surprise, but it’s true; there are times when you can drop off FedEx packages at the post office.
For example, if you’re returning something that was sent via FedEx Ground Economy Shipping (formerly SmartPost), you can bring it to your local post office or postal collection box.
Further, Ground Economy is a collaboration between FedEx and the postal service. Therefore, the post office accepts these packages.
Also, there are several accounts of customers accidentally dropping off FedEx packages at the post office.
While these drop-offs aren’t exactly sanctioned, USPS and FedEx have a “handshake agreement.”
That said, USPS will pass FedEx packages to FedEx drivers whenever they come by to drop off Economy Ground packages.
However, dropping your FedEx package off at USPS will delay delivery a bit, but it will eventually get where it needs to go.
