Yes, Verizon does work in Tijuana as well. However, a cell phone company that started in Tijuana called Altan Redes had temporarily disrupted service for Verizon customers.
While the issues have been resolved, you may still run into glitches now and again since the company uses the same frequency as Verizon.
How Does Verizon TravelPass Work In Mexico?
TravelPass is a service offered by Verizon that allows you to use your phone in Mexico for $5 a day instead of incurring outrageous fees for international travel.
Additionally, you’ll only be charged for the days that you use your phone while in Mexico. So, if you only use your phone three days out of seven, then you’re only charged for those three days.
Currently, TravelPass works in more than 185 countries, so if you’re a constant international traveler, it’s the best way to save money and avoid all fees for travel outside of the United States.
However, you don’t need to use TravelPass or add it to your account to use your Verizon phone in Mexico. Still, it’ll save you a ton of money in the long run, especially for extended travel.

You can go to the Global & International Services page on Verizon to add TravelPass to your device. Or, you can choose to text “Travel” to the Verizon 4004 number.
On top of that, you can choose to call the Verizon customer service line and tell an employee you’d like to add TravelPass to your account, and they’ll set up the process for you.
Do Verizon Prepaid Phones Work In Mexico?
If you have a Verizon Prepaid phone, you’ll be happy to know that your prepaid phone will work in Mexico, but you need to use a Prepaid International Calling Plan.
Furthermore, there are three plans that you can choose from, which include Global Calling, Global Calling Plus, and Global Choice.
Global Calling is $5 per month, Global Choice is $10 per month, and Global Calling Plus is $15 per month. Also, you can add it to your account either through the Verizon app or website.
Moreover, all three of these plans offer unlimited talk to Mexico, so you can choose which plan fits your needs based on if you plan to travel to other destinations in the future.
However, once you add the Prepaid International Calling plan to your account, it will automatically renew every month until you choose to remove it from your account.
