Does Walmart Deliver To PO Boxes?

Post office boxes (P.O. Box) are often used as a way to receive mail by individuals who live in places where mail may not be able to be delivered directly to their homes.

However, if this is your only form of receiving mail, you may be wondering if Walmart delivers to PO boxes. Here is what I discovered.

Does Walmart Deliver To PO Boxes?

Unfortunately, Walmart does not deliver any products to PO box addresses in any state within the United States. Instead, customers may be able to ship Walmart.com orders to their local post office by utilizing USPS General Delivery, which is for those without a permanent address.

Why Does Walmart Not Deliver To PO Box Addresses?

Unlike Amazon which has developed its own infrastructure for delivering items, Walmart uses third-party delivery carriers for its Walmart delivery service.

The two main delivery providers that Walmart works with to deliver Walmart items for online orders at walmart.com and Walmart Marketplace are FedEx and UPS (United Parcel Service).

The delivery policies of both FedEx and UPS state clearly that they only will deliver to valid street addresses, and they do not ship to PO box addresses.

UPS’s policy on shipping to PO box addresses states that any package addressed to a PO box address will not be covered by UPS’s Service Guarantee, and the address will also have to be corrected.

Is There Any Way Around This?

From our research, there is no way of forwarding an order made from Walmart.com to a PO box as many of the delivery companies do not support this.

However, one alternative you can try is to utilize the USPS General Delivery service which allows those without an address to send items to their local post office.

Additionally, another method you can try is to send your Walmart.com order to your local post office directly by inputting their address into the order.

And to ensure the order gets to you, you can add your PO box number as the apartment number when checking out at Walmart.

From what we have discovered, both FedEx and UPS delivery drivers have no problem shipping products like this, but your post office might have a different policy.

How Is A PO Box Address Different To A Regular Street Address?

The US address format for sending a delivery to a PO box address is similar to a standard US address, but the PO Box number must be included and clearly indicated under the addressee and company name (if it is a delivery to a PO box commercial mailing address).

Street addresses are often residential addresses individuals receive home mail at. In contrast, PO box addresses are often used as a business’s mailing addresses.

A business’s PO box mailing address, however, may be different from a business’s physical address and where the business is actually physically located.

Are There Any Restrictions For Walmart Delivery To Street Addresses?

Yes, Walmart will only deliver to the 50 US states (and certain overseas territories such as American Samoa and Puerto Rico, etc.) and won’t ship abroad, not even to Canada.

Shipping Walmart items internationally can only be done by individuals that are willing to find an international forwarding company that can successfully forward the package of Walmart items overseas to countries outside the USA.

However, this has to be done by individuals of their own accord, and Walmart as a company will take no part in forwarding Walmart items abroad.

Conclusion

Walmart offers fantastic, reliable delivery service within the USA for items purchased online at walmart.com and Walmart Marketplace.

However, Walmart does not ship to PO box addresses. If you find this to be of great annoyance to you as a customer, we suggest perhaps looking for an online shop that uses USPS as a delivery carrier service. USPS will deliver to PO box addresses and is a reputable, well-known delivery provider in the USA.
