Why Is My Walmart Order Taking So Long To Process?

Walmart is home to thousands of useful products that can be ordered both in-store and online. However, one of the most frustrating things is when an order is in the “processing” phase.

Because of this, I dug into why Walmart orders can take so long to process and if there is anything you can do about it. Let’s dive in!

Why Is My Walmart Order Taking So Long To Process?

Walmart orders stuck in the “processing” stages are due to stock discrepancies and shipments that Walmart is yet to receive. Because of this, Walmart orders can take longer than usual to process as the Walmart fulfillment centers are unable to ship the order unstill the stock arrives.

To learn more about wait times and what you can do, keep on reading!

Why Does My Walmart Order Still Say Processing?

The most likely reason is that it is currently classed as a ‘backorder.’ Backordersare orders made on products or items not currently available within store supply.

Walmart often waits for the new inventory of the ordered product to arrive and then sends the item when the stock arrives, rather than canceling the order altogether.

Unfortunately, this is a common occurrence with large e-commerce stores as if there is delayed shipping from the supplier, it can disrupt the shipping and stock levels on Walmarts ends

How Long Does It Take For Walmart To Process An Order?

Walmart can take between 2 to 4 hours to process an order once it has been sent to a store or a fulfillment center. Once processed, the order will move to the “shipping” stage.

If the item is not immediately available at the Walmart store or stocking location, a delay of up to a couple of days may occur.

Additionally, some Walmart customers have had to wait 2 – 10 days for the “processing” stage to roll over to the “shipping” stage.

However, this happens very rarely, and a Walmart customer service representative will usually reach out if there are any long delays.

Is There Anything I Can Do To Fix This?

Unfortunately, there is nothing customers can do to speed up the “processing” stage of the order as Walmart will be waiting on suppliers.

However, you do have the option to cancel the order and receive a refund and purchase the product elsewhere.

Additionally, if you don’t want to cancel your order, you can call Walmart Customer Service (1-800-925-6278) and request a discount or store credit due to the inconvenience it is causing you.

In some cases, customers have received $20 off their total order value when calling.

How Do I Track My Walmart Online Order?

To track your order online, you must first log into the same Walmart account that you ordered the product with. Then click the icon in the top right-hand corner and select ‘track orders.’

You will be asked to fill in the order number, which can be found on your order confirmation email. Once successfully filled in, you will be able to access the current position of your purchase and track it!

Conclusion

A Walmart order may be delayed within the processing section due to a variety of reasons. The main reason is usually due to backorders or limited stock supply. Walmart will either wait until the next set of supplies arrives or, if this is too far away, they will cancel your order.

You can track your order online using your Walmart account, or you can ring or email stores for more specific advice tailored to your order.
