What Are Walmart Attendance Points?
Walmart relies on its store associates to keep things running smoothly, and that means keeping track of absences and lateness.
The Walmart Attendance Point System records these occurrences and tallies points for lateness and unreported absences.
Employees who go over the limit of points allowed within a six-month period risk being terminated.
However, there is a positive side to Walmart’s attendance policy as well, as the company offers bonuses to employees with good attendance records as high as 25% for perfect attendance.
How Are Attendance Points Calculated?
All Walmart employees have to clock in when they start and end work, using the online GTA time clock system.
This helps the system keep track of late arrivals, unreported absences, and missed shifts. Points are assigned for each occurrence as follows:
- 15 minutes to 2 hours late: 1/2 point
- Missing half a shift:1 point
- Unreported absence: 2 points
- Leave shift early: 1/2 point
An associate who has 5 points within a six-month period may face termination.
However, points don’t last forever, but only for a six month period, after which you begin again with a clean slate.
This allows for any unexpected problems, which may have caused lateness and unreported absences.
How Do I Check My Points?
You can check your six-month points report by logging in to your Walmart store associate account. Under My Time, you’ll find all the details for Leave of Absence.
By phone, you contact the Walmart Disability and Leave Service Center at (800-492-5678) at any time to get the number of absences or points you have.
You’ll get a call back with the details.
How Do I Report an Absence?
If you’re not feeling well, or have to miss work for any other reason, you can report an absence online at the One Walmart website.
You can do this by logging in to your Walmart Associate account, and filing in all details about yourself, your ID, and the reason for your absence.
Associates are allowed to have up to 9 reported absences in a six-month period. Approved absences for the following reasons do not incur any points:
- FMLA leave
- Medical accommodation
How Many Points Can You Get at Walmart Before Termination?
Associates who have been employed at Walmart for over 6 months can get 5 points before termination.
For employees who have worked less than 6 months at Walmart, the maximum number allowed before termination is 4 points.
Walmart Associates can check their points online at the One Walmart site by logging in to their accounts, and going to the My Time section.
They will find the six-month record of points and absences, so they can check their attendance record, and make sure that their points are within the acceptable limits.
