PetSmart Exchange Policy
PetSmart will exchange almost all products brought back into the store within 60 days with valid proof of purchase. Customers must bring the items in new or sellable condition and include the original packaging. Items bought in-store and online can both be exchanged at a store location.

Can I Exchange An Item After 60 Days At PetSmart?
If you’re seeking an exchange at PetSmart, you should try and stick within the 60-day limit.
However, in case the exchange window is over, you can still make an exchange as long as you bring the product back to your local store with a valid form of ID.
In this instance, keep in mind that the product will be exchanged for the most recent sale price.
Additionally, it will be up to the discretion of the store manager on whether or not to accept the return after 60 days.
This means that any positive balance will be refunded to you in the same way that you originally purchased (e.g., in cash for an original cash payment).
Can I Exchange An Item Without A Receipt At PetSmart?
You can still make an exchange for an item bought at PetSmart, even if you have misplaced your receipt.
The policy for an exchange without a receipt is the same as an exchange outside of the 60-day limit.
To exchange without a receipt, you must bring the item into the store with a valid ID form, and the exchange will be made at the most recent sale price.
Note that if you have lost your receipt but have a PetSmart Rewards account, an employee can find your receipt using your phone number.
Similarly, if you have an online account, you can find your own order history to present proof of purchase.
However, keep in mind that a receipt is required to exchange selected items that are valued at more than $10, such as the following:
Electronic products, such as collars, fencing, and training supplies
Filters or pumps
Non-prescription medication and vitamins
Can I Exchange Opened Products At PetSmart?
PetSmart allows exchanges of opened products, provided they are in a sellable condition. For instance, opened pet food may be exchanged within 14 days of purchase.
The retailer understands that the food may not agree with your pet and allows these products to be exchanged, even if opened, within the 14-day limit.
What Products Can I Not Exchange At PetSmart?
Although PetSmart exchanges many items, some cannot be returned or exchanged.
These include items such as prescription medication bought at a store, which cannot be exchanged.
Can I Exchange A Broken Item At PetSmart?
If a product arrives or is found damaged or defective when bought online or on the PetSmart app, you should contact customer service within 30 days of purchase.
To report damaged or defective items, you will need your order number, product number, email address, and phone number to give to the customer care operative.
Damaged or defective items will be exchanged in-store under the same guidelines as other exchanges, i.e., you will need to make the exchange within 60 days and with proof of purchase.
