Are Complaints Taken Seriously at Subway?

When it comes to being taken seriously, Subway has a mixed record. On one hand, they make it convenient and simple to reach out via their feedback form on the website or via phone.

However, on the other hand, some very serious complaints and allegations were ignored in the not so distant past.

For instance, complaints about Subway’s former spokesperson, Jared Fogle, were ignored at first back in 2011.

While that example is an extreme one, other less serious complaints, such as issues with employees at Subway, are still not always the best.

When it comes to employees themselves, the perception of Subway and how it treats employees is somewhat negative.

Although many employees report a great experience and a positive work environment, others report that the environment is less than ideal.

According to a website called Comparably, Subway earned a “D” for the overall work culture.

This would indicate that many complaints are not taken seriously from Subway employees.

What Are the Most Common Complaints That People Make About Subway?

What Are the Most Common Complaints That People Make About Subways?

Some of the most common complaints from customers have to do with the quality of the food.

Some have mentioned sub sandwiches not having as much meat or toppings as they expected.

Other customers mention unprofessional or rude customer service from store managers or employees.

These complaints range from discriminatory treatment to ignoring food requests to more.

However, some of the more serious complaints come from employees of Subway.

For example, a common complaint is that, often at closing time, only one person is working.

Some have also noted that they were not paid past closing time, yet expected to complete jobs.

Other employees have complained that they were not trained properly, yet we’re expected to do all tasks anyway.

At least one female worker complained that she was expected to take the trash outside at night alone.

Overall, the complaints range from very minor, such as a customer wanting more tuna on a sub, to very serious, such as a customer or employee experiencing outright discriminatory treatment.

While Subway most certainly does not tolerate such behavior, in theory, the fact is, Subway does receive many such complaints.

How Do I Complain About a Manager at Subway?

If a Subway manager is being rude or in any way problematic to a customer or a store employee, there are a few ways to handle the issue.

Some may be easier than others, so it is up to you which to choose.

First, anyone with a complaint about a manager or other issue can send it via regular mail.

Subway’s corporate office address is 325 Sub Way, Milford, CT 06461, U.S.A. This may take a few days, but might be a good option for some.

Second, if desired, a customer or store employee with a complaint about a manager may call Subway’s corporate office at 1 (833) 778-2929.

It might take several minutes on hold, but eventually, you should get through.

Third, Subway also has an email address, which may be used for these types of complaints: press@subway.com.

Alternatively, there is the feedback form on Subway’s website as well.

When stating a complaint about a manager, it’s a good idea to be professional and concise.

Avoiding profanity, keeping the facts straight, the story short, and including dates are all good tips.

Can I Sue Subway?

It is possible to sue Subway, although it’s highly recommended to make sure you have facts straight and good legal representation to avoid a drawn-out legal battle.

In the past, customers have sued Subway over claims that their tuna was fake, subs were not accurate lengths, among other things.

While some of these lawsuits have been thrown out, others are still pending.

One lawsuit of significance has alleged that Subway exploits immigrants and franchisees. It remains to be seen how the lawsuit will end, but it is worth following.

All in all, most complaints about Subway certainly don’t progress to this level.

However, if you believe you have a case that might warrant a lawsuit, take time to research the best course of action.

Conclusion

Subway is no stranger to complaints from customers and store employees alike, having handled countless complaints about the decades, ranging from benign to scandalous.

Complaints can be handled at the store level or at the corporate level, depending on the extent of the problem. Anyone with a complaint should present their problem thoughtfully, and with the expectation that Subway will listen and take appropriate action.

  1. Subway employee made fun of my disability while telling me to leave. He was rushing me through the line and I was the one one in line. It bothered him to help me and get my order correct. He said I wasted his fucking time and to take my one-legged ass out of his store. Very young disrespectful boy. There are more details I need report this. I’m furious I feel bullies. His manager was his mother and took his side.

  2. To corporate office on comment on Subway located at Bedford Street,
Abiington, MA. I purchased 3 foot long subs from manager there were no
customers in shop at this time. I was rushed with the purchase on the 3 subs
one tuna and two BMTs two people asking questions at the same time. I didnt notice until i arrived home that the two BMTs were incorrect. They had made
me two BLTs I called back the store and was told the manager who waited on o the store i had told the girl i was coming back with the subs. So Idrove back with the subs and was told the manager said I would have to pay for
two additional subs and they couldnt take back the subs. Why couldnt they
have added the cold cuts to the bread and discarded the bacon. Why should
I have to pay additionally for there mistake. I was very upset and told the
girl to shove the subs up her ass and I would notify the Corporate Office. I
will never use that store again and will tell my friends. I wonder how many
other customers were subject to their actions. I would appreciate an answer to this complaint

  3. I recently started working at Subway near me, at first it was all great I was working with a friend but lately I started to realize what my manager was doing is wrong, all she does is sit on her ass on her phone the entire time telling us( as everyone who’s ever worked there) do this and do that with no help from her at all. Even when doing customers I was 2nd person she was 1 person she should be in the front at all times doing customers while I’m doing stuff in the back while there is 1 person ordering. But no she would make me stop what I was doing to serve someone.
Another complaint is she barley had the materials for us to use, to give to people and it’s embarrassing to say “we don’t have this right now” and they walk out.
The manager is rude to people, bribes us with money to work more while she leaves but never gives the bonus pay she promised.
I will miss this place but not her and the mess she has caused.

  4. There’s an old saying: “If It Aint Broke Don’t Fix It”

What could you possibly be thinking when you dropped the sweet onion sauce Which was the best sauce of all and replaced it with the Teriyaki sauce which really SUCKS! Your sandwich makers feel the need to warn buyers when they are offered the new sauce as a substitute. That should tell you something about customer response to the sucky sauce. Please bring it back ASAP!

  5. 1/25/2023, Burien store on 152nd st, WA. Worker would not let us use a coupon, then told my friend she couldn’ use her EBT card. We would like our money back. Lousy customer service, we will never go back. We had been loyal customers.

  6. Send me a complaint form in reference to my terrible experience with subway in Semmes, AL. Food lettech tomatoes cucumbers frozen, meat sour. The preparer was rude disrespectful. Made two trips to talk with manager never there, left my phone numbers twice. I want refund or/and another sandwich.

  7. We get SUBWAY Coupons all the time in the mail. What good does it do to get them when our local locations WILL NOT Accept Coupons???????? Something about this does not make sense at all.. Do you allow such to go on or do you not know about this “practice” …….The 2 locations in question are 7531 Outer Loop & 6840 Bardstown Road Both are in Louisville ,KY. I.ve been a patron of SUBWAY for over 30 years .I’m sure I’m not the only one angry about this situation .
