Target accepts returns of unopened air mattresses within 90 days of purchase. Customers can return the air mattresses to any Target store or via mail. If a customer does not have the receipt, they still return it if they have an alternative proof of purchase.

Can I Return an Air Mattress to Target if I Have Opened the Box?
Unfortunately, you cannot return an air mattress to Target if you have opened the box.
Air mattresses are on the list of return exceptions and cannot be refunded once the box has been opened, even if you are within the 90-day window and have the original receipt.
If you have used the air mattress, the same ‘no returns’ policy applies and you cannot return the air mattress to Target.
However, in either case, you can exchange the air mattress for a similarly priced item or for the same item.
Can I Return an Air Mattress Without a Receipt to Target?
You can return an air mattress to Target without a receipt if the air mattress is unopened and you can provide alternative proof of purchase.
Target can find your order online if you made the purchase via Target RedCard, Visa, Mastercard, AmEx, Discover, personal check, or Target gift card (which you must have retained).
However, cash purchases cannot be tracked in this way.
Alternatively, you can access the digital barcode or receipt from your Target.com account to prove your purchase for online orders.
If you are unable to provide any proof of purchase, you will be refunded with a ‘merchandise return card’.
This is only valid in-store at Target, and cannot be redeemed online at Target.com.
Note that in all the above cases you will need to present a valid form of government-issued photo ID for verification purposes.
Can I Return an Air Mattress to Target After 90 Days?
You can return air mattresses to Target after 90 days, but you will be given the value of the lowest price of the item within the last 90 days in the form of a merchandise card which can only be used in-store.
However, there are two exceptions to this:
- If you purchased the air mattress with your Target RedCard, you will have 120 days to return it
- If you purchased a Target-owned brand such as Embark, you will have up to one year to return the air mattress (with the original receipt)
How Do I Return My Air Mattress to Target?
Unopened air mattresses that have been purchased on Target.com or at Target can be returned to any store to the Guest Services Desk.
Once at the desk, show your receipt, the barcode found in the Target app, Target delivery or shipping confirmation email, or the original form of payment.
You can also return air mattresses bought at Target.com through the mail but you will have to cover the return shipping costs (unless Target made an error during shipping).
Here are the standard waiting times for refunds to different modes of payment:
- Target RedCard – 1 to 2 days
- Third-party credit card – 1 to 3 days
- Cash – 1 to 2 days
Requesting a Target refund through an Online Return Centre may take up to 5 days to process.
