While the money itself is definitely the more interesting part of payday, it’s also important to pay attention to the pay stub that comes along with it.

USPS pay stubs are accessible through the Postal Service’s web-based portal, LiteBlue. This portal keeps a record of the last 40 pay periods (about 20 months). Employees need their Employee Identification Number (EIN) and USPS password to access the portal. From there, pay stubs can be viewed, printed, or saved as a PDF.

What Information Is Written On USPS Pay Stubs?

In addition to indicating the amount earned, a USPS pay stub includes the following information:

  • The start and end date of the pay period
  • Pay before deductions (i.e. gross pay)
  • Pay after deductions (i.e. net pay)
  • A breakdown about the deductions (i.e how much money is going to taxes, insurance, FICA, Medicare, and Social Security)
  • Pension or retirement contributions (if applicable)
  • Union dues (if applicable)

How Do I Get My Pay Stub From USPS?

If you are a Postal Service employee, you can access your pay stub through LiteBlue, USPS’ web-based portal.

This portal can be accessed on any web browser from any type of device (e.g. smartphone, tablet, computer).

If you don’t have access to a device of your own, LiteBlue is accessible through any of USPS’ internal computers.

When you reach the LiteBlue webpage, enter your employee identification number (EIN) and your USPS password.

Once you’re logged in, navigate to the “Employee Application” carousel. Choose “ePayroll” from the list of applications” and select the “Pay Date” you’re looking for.

Your pay stub will show up in a separate window. From this window, you can view, print, or save your pay stub as a PDF.

You should be able to view pay stubs from the past 40 pay periods (about 20 months). 

If you’ve elected to receive paper paychecks, you will receive a hard copy of your pay stub along with each check.

You also have the option of viewing your statements online.

USPS pay stubs have all kinds of information and abbreviations on them. So much so that sometimes it feels like you need a dictionary just to decipher them!

While we won’t be going over every single abbreviation you could come across on your pay stub (you can see a full guide here), we will cover the most important sections.

  1. PAYLOC – Short for Pay Location. This is where you’re assigned to work.
  2. FINANCE NO – Short for finance number. This is the USPS finance number for your work office.
  3. PAY PERIOD – This is a four-digit number, with the first two digits indicating the pay period and the second two digits indicating the year of the payment.
  4. SERIAL NUMBER – Either the serial number of the check issued to the employee or the sequence number of the Earnings Statement issued to the employee via direct deposit.
  5. DETAIL EARNINGS – This is a general heading for several entries indicating the type and number of hours being compensated for, the week in which the hours occurred, the rate schedule, the activity code, and the gross payment amount for the period.

When Can I See My Pay Stub USPS?

USPS employees can view their earnings statements online the Wednesday before each payday.

Direct deposits usually enter the employee’s bank account on the last Friday of each pay period. This means employees can anticipate their pay two days in advance.

Does USPS Mail Your Paycheck?

While many USPS employees elect to have their paycheck deposited directly into their bank accounts, it is possible to receive a paper check if requested.

USPS mails paychecks (and pay stubs) to the facility where employees work.
