Does Walmart Replace Brake Pads? [Full Guide!]

Are your brakes starting to squeak? Or maybe you’ve just had your car a long time, and you think the brakes are ready to be replaced?

If so, you might be wondering whether or not Walmart replaces brake pads via their Auto Service Centers. Here is what I discovered!

Does Walmart Replace Brake Pads?

Unfortunately, Walmart Auto Service Center does not replace brake pads in-store. However, Walmart does provide an at-home brake replacement service by Wrench Mobile Mechanic Service starting from $160. Walmart also sells brake pads and service tool kits for sedan and 4X4 models.

Can I Buy Brake Pads And Parts From Walmart?

Even though you can’t get your brakes serviced at the Walmart Auto Center, you can purchase the parts you may need for your repair in the Walmart store. Walmart sells everything from brake pads, brake rotors, and brake calipers in their stores.

If you purchase your brake parts at Walmart, please note that unless you are a trained auto repairman, this can be a difficult fix to perform alone.

However, if you are up for the challenge, you can view this video that takes you through the process step-by-step.

Where Can I Get My Brakes Serviced Instead?

If you aren’t feeling confident enough to pick out the parts and hire a maintenance specialist, there are several places you can take your car to get the brakes serviced by a professional.

The most popular places to get brakes serviced on a budget are Midas and Pep Boys. But you can also take the car to a dealership service center, and they can help you out as well.

How Much Do Brake Parts Cost At Walmart?

The prices of various brake parts do differ widely based on the brand you choose. Generally, brake pads are sold in sets of 4 (you need 8 for the entire vehicle) and cost between $20-$30 at Walmart.

Brake rotors are usually sold individually and can cost anywhere from $20-$80. Brake calipers are also sold individually and range from $40-$120.

For more up-to-date prices and brand information, search for the exact brake parts you need on Walmart.com.

What Hours Are Walmarts Auto Center Available?

Walmart’s Auto Centers function as a completely separate building from the main store, and therefore their hours are not the same as store hours.

Hours can vary slightly by location, but in general, on Monday through Friday, the Auto Service Center is open from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. On Saturdays, it is open from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. And on Sundays, it is only open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

It is best to call your local Walmart Auto Service Center to inquire about their specific hours before driving there to have your car serviced.

Signs Your Brakes May Need Attention

There are a few signs which indicate you will need new brakes soon (or that you already do!) These signs include any grinding or squeaking noise while braking.

Or if your foot goes all the way to the floor, or vibrates, on the pedal as you brake, this is also an indicator that your brakes need immediate attention. Sometimes a brake pedal may feel “mushy,” which is another sign your brakes are not functioning correctly.

Other indicators may include those built-in on the dashboard. If you see a “check brakes” or “check brake fluid” warning light, it’s important that you get your brakes looked at immediately.

While Walmart, unfortunately, does not change brake pads, they do provide a wide range of automotive services from tire installationfixing flat tires, tire balancing, car key copying, car stereo installation, coolant flushes, and tons more!
