Currently, there is no confirmation of whether or not Amazon will set up shipping warehouses in New Zealand.
According to some news sources, the decision to ship directly from New Zealand is still in the works.
At this time, Amazon NZ will ship from Australia to New Zealand, which is presently the most local shipping location New Zealand shoppers have for ordering Amazon products.
Is Amazon Currently Hiring For New Zealand Locations?
While there are no Amazon warehouses in New Zealand at this time, Amazon has a number of job openings for New Zealand residents to further their expansion in the country.
The jobs available are currently in Auckland and Wellington, NZ, only.
There are jobs available in the following categories:
- Solutions Architect
- Business & Merchant Development
- Sales, Advertising and Account Management
- Software Development
- Customer Service
- Operations, IT & Support Engineering
- Project/Program/Product Management- Technical

What Are Amazon New Zealand’s Shipping Times?
Amazon Australia shipping times will vary depending on the area and region they are shipping to.
While New Zealand and Australia are technically in the same region (Australasia), New Zealand is still considered a non-regional shipping location, according to Amazon.com.au’s shipping information.
Therefore it may take between 3-5 business days for non-Prime member packages to arrive. For Prime members in New Zealand, packages from Australia should arrive within 2-4 business days.
Fortunately, Amazon Australia guarantees easy returns for New Zealand customers.
Most packages will come with a pre-paid postage label so that packages being sent back can be scheduled for an at-home pick-up.
Customers may also return their Amazon packages to a nearby DHL location.
What Are Amazon New Zealand’s Shipping/Delivery Costs?
Amazon Australia doesn’t charge a terribly harsh shipping fee to New Zealand customers.
For standard delivery, the price falls around A$2.99. Customers in areas such as Auckland and Christchurch, they have access to expedited delivery, priced at A$6.99.
Can I Currently Buy from Amazon US If I Live In New Zealand?
While New Zealanders can now take advantage of more local shipping and delivery by purchasing from Amazon Australia, Amazon does have a Global Store, enabling New Zealand residents to order from Amazon’s main website.
The Global Store qualifies for Amazon Prime, enabling prime shipping internationally, including to New Zealand.
For Prime members, international shipping will take between 4-6 business days. For non-Prime members, shipping will usually take between 7-10 business days.
Unfortunately, to purchase from Amazon Global can be expensive when shipping costs are added on.
For Priority Shipping:
For items being shipped from the US, shipping costs fall to $16.99 plus $11.75 per kg for non-Prime members. For Prime members, shipping costs fall to $13.00 plus $8.75 per kg.
For items being shipped from Amazon UK, shipping costs fall to around $39.40 plus $9.85 per kg.
For Expedited Delivery:
For items shipped from the US, shipping costs around $9.99 per order plus $9.49 per kg.
For items sold by Amazon UK, shipping costs $24.25 plus $9.35 per kg. Prime members are not required to pay shipping costs for expedited delivery.
What Businesses Will be Able To Sell On Amazon New Zealand?
In addition to being able to purchase regular Amazon products such as clothes, books, technology, and other items, Amazon will be providing homegrown small New Zealand businesses an opportunity to use Amazon as a platform to sell.
Serious Food Co, The Herb Farm, and Bella Honey sell from Amazon to New Zealanders, leaving other small businesses to follow suit.
Is Every Product On Amazon Australia Available In New Zealand?
Unfortunately, some Amazon products are unavailable to sell in New Zealand.
Third-party sellers and other businesses associated with Amazon still retain their stock and only use Amazon as a means to sell their products.
Therefore, if the individual business is unwilling to ship to New Zealand, the products will not be available.
At this time, Amazon is not targeting New Zealand customers specifically, so its distribution model is still mostly focused on pleasing Australian customers.
Is Amazon Prime Video Available In New Zealand?
In addition to Amazon making shipping to New Zealand more convenient, they have also made Amazon Prime Video available to New Zealand customers.
Customers can sign up for a one-week free trial of Prime Video, and afterward, the streaming service costs AU$8 per month.
Is Audible Australia Available To New Zealand Customers?
New Zealand customers can now enjoy listening to over 400,000 titles on Audible Australia, including Audible Original books and podcasts.
Customers can try Audible for 30 days for free. After that, the service costs A$16.45 per month, which can be canceled anytime.
In order to sign up for Audible from New Zealand, customers can do the following:
- Sign up or sign into your Amazon account from Amazon.com.au.
- Click on the side menu and slide down to Audible Australia.
- Sign up for a 30 day free trial, where you’ll be granted one free Audible credit. This can be used on any audiobook regardless of price.
- Download Audible to your mobile device.
Is Amazon Kindle And Kindle Self Publishing Available To New Zealanders?
Amazon Kindle is available for purchase on Amazon Australia, and New Zealand customers have access to Amazon’s wide library of ebooks.
They can also subscribe to Kindle Unlimited, providing access to over 1 million books. The subscription fee for New Zealand and Australian customers is A$13.99, with a free trial that lasts 30 days.
Since 2013, Kindle Direct Publishing has also been available on Amazon.com.au and is now available to New Zealand customers.
In order to use Kindle Direct Publishing, New Zealand customers can scroll to the bottom of the Amazon.com.au homepage and tap “Independently Publish With Us.”
They can make a publisher’s account by logging into their regular Amazon.au account or creating a new one.
Customers using Amazon’s publishing platform will receive up to 70% royalties and can publish in either ebook or paperback format.
Is Amazon Associates Available To New Zealand Customers?
Amazon Australia grants access to the Amazon Associates program for New Zealanders who need access to ads and affiliate programs.
This will allow customers to display Amazon ads on websites with a .nz web address.
In order to take advantage of this program, customers must have an account on Amazon.com.au.
Does Amazon Australia Offer Discounts and Deals To New Zealand Customers?
Amazon is known for the discounts and deals that they offer on a daily basis.
Fortunately, New Zealand customers can take advantage of Deal of the Day, Lightning Deals and Savings & Sales.
These deals are offered in the Home, Books, Electronics, Toys & Games, Computers, Video Games, and Home Improvement departments. The Fashion department currently doesn’t offer the above deals.
