There is a huge range of products available in each of Walmart’s different departments, and the beauty department is no exception.
But, is it possible to return makeup to Walmart, and, if so, what condition does it need to be in? After doing my research, I’ve pulled together all the information you need!
Walmart Makeup Return Policy
Walmart allows customers to return makeup products such as foundation, mascara, blush, lipstick, eyeliner, and other cosmetic products within 90 days of purchase. For unopened makeup, Walmart will give a full cash refund. Customers are only eligible for an exchange or store credit for opened and used makeup if a receipt is provided.

Can You Return Used Cosmetics To Walmart?
Yes, you can return most opened and even used cosmetics to Walmart, as long as you start the returns process within 90 days of receiving your item. Either take the item into your local store with you or start a free online return on the Walmart website.
The item must be returned with all of its original accessories. You must also return the opened makeup with its original packaging, even if the item has already been unboxed.
What Makeup Cannot Be Returned To Walmart?
All makeup can be returned to Walmart, although some products have to meet stricter criteria to qualify for a refund or exchange.
For example, products with an ORM-D sticker must be returned unopened and still in their original packaging. These include perfumes, aerosols, and nail polish.
This has to do with the fact that products bearing an ORM-D sticker are considered to contain hazardous material.
However, despite these stricter regulations, you still have the full 90-day window to return items with an ORM-D sticker.
Some products purchased from Walmart have to be returned within a shorter timeframe, including airbeds, computers, and other technology.
How Will I Receive My Makeup Refund From Walmart?
If you opt to return makeup products in-store at Walmart, your refund will be issued to the credit card or debit card you used to make the original purchase, as long as you have your receipt.
However, if you do not have that card with you for whatever reason, your refund will be processed onto a Walmart gift card.
If you bought the makeup products using cash, then you will receive a cash refund.
Similarly, if you paid using a Walmart gift card, your refund will either be processed onto the original gift card or issued on a new one.
How To Return Makeup On The Walmart Website?
For makeup products purchased on the Walmart website, you have 90 days from the day you receive your items to start the refund process.
However, in some rare circumstances, you still might be able to return items to Walmart after 90 days.
All you have to do is log into your Walmart account and find the item you want to return in your purchase history. Select “start a return” next to the correct item, and follow the steps provided on-screen. You will be issued with a free return shipping label.
You can either receive a refund for the card used to make the purchase or choose to make an exchange.
However, exchanges will only be possible if the product is still available, whether you return in-store or online.
Can I Return Makeup At Walmart Without A Receipt?
It is possible to return makeup at a Walmart store even if you lose your receipt. To do so, you must show a valid, government-issued photo ID with you into the store, information from which will be stored in Walmart’s secure returns activity database.
You will then be given the option to either exchange the makeup for another product or receive a refund, which will be issued in cash or on a gift card.
Additionally, if the cosmetic item is under $25 in value, Walmart can give you a cash refund instead of a store credit.
However, this can vary from store to store, and it is up to the supervisor’s discretion.
