Target offers a range of services to improve the shopping experience of its loyal customers such as the Target RedCard, which entails users to loads of discounts and relaxed policies.
However, before signing up to receive one, you may be wondering – where else can you use your Target RedCard? Here is everything I’ve found out about it!
Where Can I Use My Target RedCard?
Target RedCard debit and credit cards can be used at any Target store, Target.com, and in-store Starbucks for benefits like a 5% discount and free same-day delivery. However, the Target RedCard MasterCard can be used anywhere that accepts MasterCard such as Walmart, Kroger, Safeway, Walgreens, and more.
If you want to learn more about the benefits of using a Target RedCard, how can you apply for one, and what other stores accept Target’s RedCard, keep on reading!
How Does My Target RedCard Work?
You will find different types of RedCards available at Target, one of which is the Target RedCard credit card which is available with store credit.
Some customers can later upgrade to the Target MasterCard, which offers different interest levels and benefits.
You will not be charged an annual fee for using the RedCard credit card but will need to pay penalties of $28-$39 for late repayments.
The other type of RedCard is the RedCard debit card which pulls funds directly from your personal account to pay for purchases and offers discounts, cash backs, and other benefits to users.
At Which Stores Can I Use My Target RedCard?
The Target RedCard debit and credit cards can be used at any of the 1,909 Target locations across the U.S. and for all purchases on Target.com, including merchandise sold by Target Plus Partners.
However, Target RedCard MasterCard holders have far more free reign as it is accepted at any store that can process MasterCard payments, such as:
- Kroger
- Safeway
- Trader Joe’s
- Walgreens
- Home Depot
- JCPenney (and more!)
Additionally, each of the 3 Target RedCards can pay for goods at the Starbucks located inside Target stores and the in-store CVS pharmacies in most urban regions.
What Are The Benefits Of A Target RedCard?
When you sign up for the Target RedCard debit, credit, or MasterCard cards, you’ll receive a 5% discount with every purchase in-store, online, and at in-store Starbucks stations.
On top of that, you will receive an additional 5% off when you use your RedCard on clearance sales, on top deals of the week, and specialty gift cards for travel, restaurants, movie tickets, and more.
The discount extends into delivery, with 5% off on Shipt same-day delivery when you order through Target.com and when you choose curbside pickup.
Additionally, customers also receive an extra 30 days for returns and exchanges and free two-day shipping on regular-sized items.
Unfortunately, the Target MasterCard does not provide substantial (1-2% back) rewards on purchases made outside of Target associate locations.
Note that although you can get cashback through any of your Target RedCard cards, you will only get it in the form of Target gift cards.
Can I Use A Target RedCard At Walmart?
You cannot use a Target RedCard credit or debit card at Walmart or any other store that is not associated with Target.
This is because RedCards are loyalty cards that encourage customers to shop at Target rather than at its key competitors like Walmart, which offers its own version of the RedCard.
Despite this, the RedCard MasterCard can pay for goods at Walmart stores and online as both accept MasterCard payments. However, cardholders will only receive a maximum of 1-2% cashback.
Also, customers cannot apply for the Target MasterCard since it is only offered as an upgrade.
How Do I Get A Target RedCard?
Once you’ve decided whether a debit or credit card will best suit your shopping habits, you can kickstart an application through the Target RedCard homepage.
Note that you must be over the age of 18 and will have to provide the following information:
- Your full name
- Email address
- Contact telephone or mobile number
- A residential address based in the U.S
You’ll also need to provide your social security number and a driver’s license, state ID, or military ID to verify your identity.
If you’re applying for a credit card, you will have to share your bank statement or income figures as well for Target to decide whether to issue you a RedCard credit card or not.
Keep in mind that an applicant’s credit score can influence the approval of the credit card.
Although Target does not officially state its exact requirements, most credit cards are approved with a ‘fair’ score averaging 550-600.
After approval, cards typically take up to 2-4 weeks to arrive in the post.
