Does Walmart Offer Military & Veteran Discounts? [Explained!]

Many stores across the US offer discounts to active military service members and veterans to show appreciation for their service.

With Walmart being one of the biggest retailers in the nation with stores in all 50 states, you might want to know whether Walmart offers military and veteran discounts. Here’s everything I could find.

Does Walmart Offer Military & Veteran Discounts?

Unfortunately, Walmart does not offer military or veteran discounts (including Veterans Day Sales) at any of their stores or online. Walmart helps in other ways by hiring 320,000 veterans while also providing economic, healthcare, and community support for active and veteran service members.

So what exactly does Walmart do for military service members and veterans? Read on to find out everything you need to know!

What Does Walmart Do For Veterans?

While Walmart does not and never has offered military or veterans discounts, they do a lot to support those who have served and their spouses.

In 2013, Walmart announced its Veteran’s Welcome Home Commitment, which was a pledge to hire 250,000 veterans. As of November 2020, they have hired over 320,000.

Going forwards, Walmart is planning on expanding its support even more by:

  • Increasing veterans’ access to healthcare.
  • Empowering veteran business owners.
  • Expanding their community support programs.
  • Launching their new Find-A-Future Platform, through which veterans can get an audit of their skills, experience, and education.

How Can Veterans Get A Discount At Walmart?

There is no dedicated discount at Walmart for veterans and military service members, but there are still ways for those who have served or are currently serving to purchase products at discounted prices.

Walmart sometimes holds sales both in-store and online, during which veterans and service members can purchase already highly affordable products at a reduced cost!

In-store sales will vary depending on location and the stock available in each store.

And, if you’re one of the many thousands of veterans working for Walmart, you will have access to their 10% employee discount via the Walmart Discount Card.

Does Walmart Offer Military Discount On Veterans Day?

Not only does Walmart not offer military and veterans discounts as standard, but it also does not do a dedicated Veterans Day sale. However, there may be other promotions on offer on the day.

Many businesses do hold a Veterans Day sale either in-store or online, including:

  • Amazon
  • Macy’s
  • Calvin Klein
  • QVC
  • Sears

What Stores Do Military Discount?

If you want to shop at a store that does offer military and veterans discounts as standard, there are plenty you can go to!

While Walmart supports servicemembers and their families through different support and outreach programs, many US stores choose to honor them by offering money off.

To access discounts at stores across America, active service members and veterans will usually have to show one of a few different military ID cards. Here are just a few of the stores in the US that offer military and veterans discounts in the US:

  • Kohl’s
  • Nike
  • Apple Store
  • Best Buy
  • Home Depot
  • Lowes

Conclusion

Walmart does not offer military and veterans discounts either in-store or online. They do, however, actively support military service members, veterans, and their spouses with a variety of support packages.

Back in 2013, for example, they pledged to hire more than 250,000 veterans, and today they also offer improved access to healthcare and community resources, among other things.

But, if you’re looking for stores that specifically offer military and veterans discounts, there are plenty to choose from across the United States.
