  1. My sister bought her and me takeaway coffees and muffins early yesterday afternoon , Saturday 25th June, from McCafe at McDonalds Greenlane. My sister had a ‘Flat white’ and I had a ‘Cappuccino’ with sweeteners; she had a heated Blueberry muffin and I had an unheated Walnut-Bran muffin, both with butter. We were particularly careful not to actually touch the muffins with our hands as we buttered and ate them in our car in the car-park. (We are scrupulous about wearing masks and hygiene in general.)
Later that evening as I was preparing tea I felt a sudden urge to go to the toilet and discovered I must have picked up a bug from the coffee or muffin as they were the only food I had consumed that day apart from a morning cup of coffee at home. My sister didn’t get diarrhoea, so it is more than likely that it must have been my muffin that had, what seems to me, been tainted by an E-coli contaminant rather than the coffee.
We have been almost daily customers for coffee and muffins from this branch for months if not years.
I have noticed the standards dropping over the past couple of months or so, with some of the younger staff sometimes not wearing gloves, getting our orders mixed up, and even roughly placing the muffins on the counter as though they resented working there.
I realize that good staff can be difficult to come by in these times but on the other hand we have now lost confidence in your hygiene standards to the extent the we cannot risk going back to McCafe.
