Over the past few years, Venmo has grown in popularity as a modern and highly convenient money-sharing option through which you can purchase items and pay your bills.
Although Target accepts a variety of payment methods both in-store and online, you may be wondering if you can use Venmo to pay at Target. Here is what I’ve found out about this!
Does Target Accept Venmo?
Target accepts Venmo as a method of payment both in-store and online, except for purchasing Target Plus Partner items online. Venmo users can pay for Target purchases with linked credit cards or bank accounts on Venmo’s app at self-checkouts and employee registers, and get 5% cashback for their purchases.

How Do You Pay With Venmo At Target?
The Venmo smartphone app gives you a QR code to make contactless purchases in-store via your Venmo account.
This QR code can be accessed by tapping “Show to Pay” when prompted, which will be scanned by the sales associate or at a self-checkout counter.
On the other hand, if you are presented with a QR code to scan in order to complete your purchase, use the app’s scanner portal to scan the QR code and proceed with the transaction.
Alternatively, if you have a physical Venmo Debit Card, it is accepted at all locations where MasterCard cards can be used for payment (including at Target) and you can use it like any other debit card.
What Can You Buy At Target With Venmo?
You can purchase all types of goods at Target stores with your Venmo account since Target stores across the U.S. accept all contactless digital wallets.
Additionally, you can also link your Venmo credit cards to the Target mobile app for seamless payment and orders.
Does Target Accept Venmo For Online Shopping at Target.com?
Customers can use Venmo for making online purchases at Target.com. Since Venmo is owned by PayPal, you can access Venmo-linked credit cards to pay at Target.com’s checkout.
Other than that, you can link your Venmo wallet ID code at the online checkout to proceed, just as you would with any other mobile wallet.
However, you cannot use Venmo as a payment method for items sold via Target Plus Partners at Target.com, as they do not accept PayPal-owned mobile wallets.
Can You Get Cash Back At Target With A Venmo Card?
Venmo users can get 5% cash back at Target stores for any purchases as part of its Venmo Rewards program.
The cash will be deposited into your Venmo account and can be used to deposit money into your bank account or for app transfers and future payments.
Alternatively, you can also obtain cashback if you use your Venmo debit card to make a withdrawal at particular ATMs located in Target.
Look for the MasterCard, Cirrus, Pulse, or MoneyPass acceptance marks on the ATM and withdraw your cash directly from there. Note that a low domestic withdrawal fee may apply to your transaction.
What Other Payment Methods Does Target Accept In-Store?
Apart from Venmo, Target also accepts many other methods of payment including the following:

- Prepaid Gift Cards from Visa or Mastercard
- Target Gift Cards, Target eGift Cards, and mobile Target Gift Cards
